Intuit Solution Providers and ProAdvisors

Submitted by Will on September 19, 2011

What is an Intuit Solution Provider (ISP)? What is an Intuit ProAdvisor? And what does this mean for the end user of QuickBooks?

Solution Providers have expertise in technology and solutions integration for small-to-medium sized businesses. They are certified to resell, implement, and support QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions, Point of Sale, Intuit QuickBase, and other Intuit and third-party products.

Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisors have expertise in accounting and bookkeeping services for small-to-medium sized businesses. They are typically CPAs, accountants, and small business advisors or consultants who have been tested and certified by Intuit to help businesses learn and use QuickBooks and other Intuit products.

Both Solution Providers and QuickBooks ProAdvisors may provide services beyond these core services, either through additional expertise within their firms or through collaborating with other firms.

QuickBooks Hardware Considerations

Submitted by Will on September 12, 2011

While most current Windows based PC’s will function well with these products (and where QBPOS is concerned you can purchase bundled computer packages), it is more important to note that the peripheral components that work with QBPOS are also important.

Where QBPOS is concerned, peripheral components you might want or need to include:
• Cash drawers
• Receipt printers
• Bar code scanners
• Credit card swipes or credit card swipes with integrated pin pad readers for debit transactions
• Pole displays that show the customer what was purchased and the amount
• Label printers that allow you to print your own merchandise tags
•  Physical inventory scanners that allow you to easily count inventory and upload those counts to QBPOS
• Touch screens

Which QuickBooks Software Version is Right for You?

Submitted by Will on September 08, 2011

QuickBooks Point of Sale is an inventory control and customer facing sales tool that works well in traditional retail settings.  While it has numerous strengths that make it good fit for stores that need up to 20 workstations and (given the version) can manage 20 different locations (each with 20 workstations), one of its great benefits is the strong integration with QuickBooks Financial products that you may already be using.  QBPOS will update QBFS with all of the inventory values, sales, sales tax, inventory value adjustments that originate in QBPOS so that you do not have to manually reenter transactions in your accounting.
